WHITBREAD ACTION EARTH

Whitbread Action Earth Launch

This year's Whitbread Action Earth campaign was launched at Vauxhall City Farm in London. It was a bitterly cold day but all the volunteers were eager and ready to do their bit for the environment. Environmentalist and TV presenter Chris Baines joined local young volunteers as well as Whitbread Employee volunteers in helping to put the finishing touches to a "pig igloo" at the farm. The igloo - a daytime shelter for the farm's two friendly and beautiful black and white New Zealand Kune Kune pigs called Ite and Nue - was turfed, with wildflower seeds and bulbs planted in its roof. Both pigs, together with assorted ducks and chickens, were present during the project.
