Bird Box Making Project for Congleton Community Garden
Where? Congleton
When? 14th April 2003
What's it about? Involving young volunteers from Youth in Action & VISYON in making bat and bird boxes for the Community Garden.
Where's it happening? Community Garden, Lawston Street, Congleton
What will volunteers do? Make bird and bat boxes to be erected on trees in the Community Garden.
What to wear/bring: Wet weather clothing, hammers, picnic lunch, drinks.
What will be provided: Wood, tyre rubber for hinges, ladder, nails.
Is there wheelchair access to the site? Yes
Any restrictions? Must be over 7 years old.

Disley Valley Spring Clean Day
Where? Stockport
When? Saturday 12th April 2003
What's it about? A village spring clean day, collecting litter and other debris. Cleaning litter bins and road signs. Removing graffiti.
Where's it happening? Disley & Newtown, Stockport
What will volunteers do? Each take an area of the village for litter picking, cleaning waste bins and road signs, and removing graffiti.
What to wear/bring: Drinks, warm clothing.
What will be provided: Litter pickers, gloves and bin liners.

Swains Valley Project
Where? Hyde
When? Saturday 15th March 2003
What's it about? To make good paths and access to an allotment in Hyde Cheshire. To erect fencing and a gate and to mark out and measure the site for planning work to begin.
Where's it happening? Swains Valley Allotments, Dowson Road, Hyde
What will volunteers do? Make good paths and access, possibly fencing work (but not sure yet). Other jobs do be arranged.
What to wear/bring: Flask of tea/coffee, Outdoor clothing (Warm and Waterproof), sandwiches and good, sturdy footwear.
What will be provided: Tools and chocolate! (Toilet facilities will need to be arranged, will need to find out if these are available on the day, so will let you know).
Is there wheelchair access to the site? No
Any restrictions? Adults only. No pets.

Mid Cheshire Barn Owl Initiative
Where? Knutsford
When? 30th March 2003
What's it about? Construction of barn owl boxes for erection at Acton.
Where's it happening? Lower Moss Wood, School Lane, Ollerton, Knutsford
What will volunteers do? Help cut materials to size and make the barn owl boxes.
What to wear/bring: Old clothes and sturdy footwear. Also refreshments as considered necessary. Can bring own food and cook on a barbecue (provided).
What will be provided: All materials and equipment to construct the new barn owl boxes.

Bird Boxes for the Pickmere Informal Recreational Open Space
Where? Pickmere
When? Sunday 5th January 2003
What's it about? In 2000, Pickmere was fortunate enough to acquire a derelict but beautiful site adjoining the Mere. The village formed the Conservation Group to clear it and have already planted over 1000 trees. Work is ongoing. We would now like to put up bird boxes.
Where's it happening? Pickmere Informal Recreational Open Space, Mere Lane, Pickmere
What will volunteers do? Following the instructions of the Countryside Ranger, volunteers will make the boxes and the more able will mount them on trees.
What to wear/bring: Nails, protective gloves
What will be provided: Materials. Use of pavilion for working/refreshments/toilet facilities
Is there wheelchair access to the site? Yes
Any restrictions? No. Children must be accompanied by responsible adult. Dogs must be under control at all times.
