Riverdale primary School Land Development 2003
Where? Redcar
When? Tuesday 29th April 2003
What's it about? To improve the appearance of the school grounds. We are in the early stages of planning a nature trail through wooded area, a butterfly garden and a meadow.
Where's it happening? Riverdale Pimary School, Redcar
What will volunteers do? Create a flower border at the front of the school.
What to wear/bring: Protective clothing.
What will be provided: Gardening tools, refreshments.
Is there wheelchair access to the site? Yes
Any restrictions? Volunteers will be children and staff from the school.

Diamond Pride
Where? Saltburn by the Sea
When? 26th April 2003
What's it about? Phase 2 of a project begun last year to improve sunken shelter at the bottom of our street. We now have a new brick flowerbed which needs painting with masonry paint and planting out, plus a boat to be filled with annuals.
Where's it happening? Marine Parade, Saltburn by the Sea
What will volunteers do? Paint brick exterior of flower bed, paint walls of shelter, plant out annuals and shrubs. Litter pick and generally tidy area.
What to wear/bring: Protective clothing, plastic gloves, paint brushes, trowels, forks.
What will be provided: Tea.
Is there wheelchair access to the site? No
Any restrictions? No pets.

Action for Garden Birds
Where? Hartlepool
When? 8th March 2003
What's it about? Involving the local community in actions to help garden birds.
Where's it happening? Summer hill Country Park, Hartlepool
What will volunteers do? Learn about birds in their local area and ways of attracting/helping garden birds. Build nest boxes for various bird species, which can be put up in their own gardens.
What to wear/bring: Packed lunch
What will be provided: Information on wildlife gardening, training, supervision, materials to build bird boxes.
Is there wheelchair access to the site? Yes
Any restrictions? Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Box Clever for Birds
Where? Stockton-on-Tees
When? 1st February 2003
What's it about? Build and put up approx 60 bird/bat boxes in Hardwick Dene, an area of greenspace situated in Hardwick Estate.
Where's it happening? Hardwick Dene, Hardwick, Stockton-on-Tees
What will volunteers do? Make bird and bat boxes in the workshops, learn which species are attracted to different designs. The boxes will then be taken to nearby Hardwick Dene and put up in the areas of woodland.
What to wear/bring: Old clothes, boots or wellingtons (site is muddy). Packed lunch.
What will be provided: Tea, coffee, juice.
Is there wheelchair access to the site? No
Any restrictions? All ages welcome, no pets allowed in offices/workshop. Any dogs brought to the Dene must be kept under control.
