Bat Box Building Day
Where? Gloucester
When? Tuesday 15th April 2003
What's it about? A free event for anyone to come and try their hand at bat box building - each group that participates can take home a free bat box, and the rest will be put up on local nature reserves in the city.
Where's it happening? St James City Farm, 22 Albany Street, Tredworth, Gloucester
What will volunteers do? Put together bat boxes from ready made kits.
What to wear/bring: Themselves!!
What will be provided: Wood, nails, tools, light refreshments, expertise.
Is there wheelchair access to the site? Yes
Any restrictions? No pets on the farm.

Operation Compost Heap
Where? Stroud
When? 26th April 2003
What's it about? To clear an area of waste ground in a corner of the school field and erect 2 compost bins and a wormery. Compost bins will be used to recycle waste from packed lunches. Compost produced will be returned to ground, used for raising plants by the pupils or sold to parents at school fetes.
Where's it happening? St Matthews Primary School, Church Road, Cainscross, Stroud
What will volunteers do? Clear overgrown corner of school fields of brash, brambles, weeds. Erect two wooden compost bins and wormery.
What to wear/bring: Wear: protective gloves, suitable footwear. Bring: suitable tools, eg. Secateurs and packed lunch.
What will be provided: Drinks, nails and hammers to erect compost bins, carpet to cover compost.
Is there wheelchair access to the site? No
Any restrictions? No pets. No unaccompanied children.

Operation Butterfly
Where? Stroud

What's it about? To dig and prepare a border within the school environment area to plant with native species attractive to butterflies.

Wildlife Area Improvement
Where? Gloucester
When? Thursday 13th February 2003
What's it about? To provide a compost bin in a derelict area of the wildlife area to encourage composting of garden waste and use as a resource to enhance the curriculum.
Where's it happening? Hatherley Infant School, Hatherley Road, Gloucester
What will volunteers do? Help construct a wooden slatted compost bin for use in the recycling of garden waste.
What to wear/bring: Protective clothes, basic wood working tools.
What will be provided: Refreshments, materials.
Is there wheelchair access to the site? Yes
Any restrictions? No pets or young children.

Bird Box Building Day
Where? Gloucester
When? 15th February 2003
What's it about? An event where families can make bird boxes for themselves and nature areas throughout the city of Gloucester. The project will be set in the most deprived ward of Gloucester City and we are hoping to encourage volunteers from the surrounding locality.
Where's it happening? St James City Farm, 23 Albany Street, Tredworth, Gloucester
What will volunteers do? Build the bird boxes under our supervision. We will also advise them on care of bird boxes, how to put them up, where to put them up etc.
What to wear/bring: Themselves.
What will be provided: Tools, light refreshments, wood, screws, nails, expertise.
Is there wheelchair access to the site? Yes
Any restrictions? No dogs at the farm.
How many NEW volunteers required? as many as possible
