What's it about? Clearing River Ems and Lumley Stream of fallen branches and other items blocking the flow.
Where's it happening? Brook Meadow, off Lumley Lane, Emsworth What will volunteers do? Some will clear out the river/stream of debris and others will get rid of the debris in suitable places.

What's it about? Now becoming an annual event. We will be clearing some of the encroaching scrub that prevents the growth of orchids on the site. This will also be an introductory task for anyone new to the important work of nature conservation.

What's it about? The work covering the weekend will be the coppicing, planting and pruning within the many hedgerows.
Where's it happening? Turgis Court Farm, Stratfield Turgis, Sherfield on Loddon Nr What will volunteers do? The volunteers will help out with managing some of the hedgerow on the Turgis Court Site, with the purpose of rejuvenating them to increase their visual and wildlife appeal.

Pond Refurbishment Project - Phase 5
Where? Southampton
When? Friday 4th - Sunday 6th April 2003
What's it about? The reconstruction of dam No.6 in the series of ponds called the 20th Century Ponds at Holly Hill Woodland Park.
Where's it happening? Hooly Hill Woodland Park, Barnes Lane, Sarisbury Green, Southampton What will volunteers do? Excavate for the new dam. Construct shuttering & formwork. Cast the concrete for the dam. Remove the shuttering & formwork. Dismantle old dam.
What to wear/bring: Old clothes are essential, wheelbarrows & shovels on the Saturday. Help is also required with answering the questions of passers by & dishing out leaflets which is a much cleaner, but none the less essential role. Any refreshments required will need to be brought along, although facilities are available nearby.
What will be provided: All tools & materials required for the project.

What's it about? Construct a corral to ease the management of the cattle which are used to graze the heathland areas of this site.

What to wear/bring: Wear appropriate outdoor working clothes, with stout footwear (steel toecaps preferred). Bring waterproofs. Bring packed lunch if staying in afternoon

Tree planting at Bishops Waltham Cricket Club

What's it about? To plant native tree species in the spare ground surrounding the playing area. To enhance the scenic amenity of the site and blend it into the surrounding area.

What to wear/bring: Warm clothes, waterproof boots/wellies.

Park Wood: Woodland Work-out
Where? Waterlooville
When? 26th January 2003
What's it about? To continue the restoration of Park Wood. We will carry out various clearance tasks, including the drainage ditches, and celebrate our achievements with a barbecue.
Where's it happening? Park Wood, London Road, Waterlooville What will volunteers do? Clear sycamore saplings by cutting with loppers or bowsaw, pull up small seedlings, locate and pull up laurel seedlings. Drag saplings and brash from larger trees to bonfires and burn them. Stack sycamore logs (cut earlier in the year) into habitat piles. Clear ditches and cut back bramble. Celebrate achievements with a barbecue lunch.
What to wear/bring: Old clothing, wellingtons or other stout boots.
What will be provided: Tools, protective gloves, hard hats, first aid facilities, safety briefing and training as required, hot and cold drinks and biscuits, guided tour of wood, barbecue with hot dogs, mince pies, mulled wine, tea, coffee.

Any restrictions? Children welcome, supervised by adult if under 14 years of age. Dogs welcome, but must be kept under close control by owners.

What's it about? To collect all natural Xmas trees from 9 collection points within Whiteley (from residents houses), shred them using the mulch on tree and shrub beds within the Whiteley recreation and park area.
