School Wood Spring Clean
Where? Farr (on B851)
When? Saturday 26th April 2003
What's it about? Removing litter and other waste from newly-acquired community woodland site. This will be our first volunteer work day and will be followed by a celebration ceilidh to mark the community purchase.
Where's it happening? School Wood, Farr (on B851)
What will volunteers do? Help clean up community woodland - remove litter and some more bulky waste.
What to wear/bring: Suitable clothing, work gloves.
What will be provided: Gloves, bin bags, tabards, refreshments - celebration ceilidh afterwards.
Is there wheelchair access to the site? No
Any restrictions? Primary age children with adult.

Nethybridge Playgroup Vegetable Garden
Where? Nethybridge
When? Wednesday 23rd April - Wednesday 30th April 2003
What's it about? To purchase tubs, soil, tools and other equipment for playgroup children to grow and care for their vegetables. This will be a fun activity for the children as much as a learning experience, in this year and in the future.
Where's it happening? Abernethy Primary School, Nethybridge
What will volunteers do? Plant out seedlings into the tubs, water and care for them under the direction of the play leader and assistants.

Children's Bat and Bug Boxes
Where? Inverness
When? Wednesday 5th March 2003
What's it about? Last year we made a bird box for each child attending 2 local primary schools to personalize and put out into woodland. It was a great success and this year we want to follow it up with bat and bug boxes.

Dragonfly Pond Construction
Where? Inverness
When? Saturday 15th March 2003
What's it about? Very simple excavation of a shallow pond to be lined with polythene and turf. The purpose is twofold - for the primary school pupils to follow the colonisation process and pond dip, and also to enhance the visual amenity of popular walk by placing the pond within view of the road.
Where's it happening? close to the railway viaduct on the Baluraid Road, Inverness
What will volunteers do? A mechanical digger will do the bulk of the work. Volunteers will be laying a polythene liner and replacing turf on top and a bit of spade work and tidying.
What to wear/bring: A shovel, wellies, industrial gloves.
What will be provided: Picks, shovels, wheelbarrow, shelter if it rains and a cup of tea.
Is there wheelchair access to the site? No
Any restrictions? Anyone who can shovel.

"Hidey Isle" Hide Hedge Planting
Where? Tomatin
When? 1st March 2003
What's it about? We need a hedge screen on either side of 20yds or so of path (which also needs building up during the process) leading to a recently completed wildlife watching hide. A raised base of alder, hazel and birch trees will be thickened and topped with berry-bearing food shrubs such as berberis.
