Enhancement/Clearing/Revitalising Our Wildlife Area
Where? Grimsby
When? 11th April
What's it about? We have a superb area designated to attract wildlife and foliage. It has a good pond which was designated and set up by parents several years ago which at certain times of year is thriving with frogs, toads, newts, insects etc. Unfortunately the last few years has see the area decline due to overgrowth which has smothered much of the pond and covered routes. We wish to replenish, revive and resurrect this wonderful educational resource.
Where's it happening? Springfield Primary School, Springwood Crescent, Grimsby What will volunteers do? Students from local agricultural college will carry out the physical work of clearing and enhancing the area.

National Moth Night 2003

What's it about? We will be organising a "Moth Night", a practical project that will benefit the environment by helping to identify species of moth present in one of out county's most important woodlands. Thus, helping our organisation to conserve butterflies, moths and their habitats.
Where's it happening? Chambers Farm Wood, Near Wragby, Lincoln What will volunteers do? Organise and run the "moth night" set up moth lights/ traps. Capture and identify moth species. Record data on species caught. This will support vital work on conserving moths and their habitats.
What to wear/bring: Warm outer clothing / coats in case of rain, stout footwear, torch would also be beneficial.
What will be provided: Warm refreshments (or cold if preferred!)

St Francis Garden - Compost Bins/Rubbish Bins

What's it about? The garden generates a lot of 'green' waste. We'd like to build a compost bin, the compost will then be used on the garden to improve the soil. Put in rubbish bins.
Where's it happening? Mill Lodge, Canwick Hill, Lincoln What will volunteers do? Construct two compost bins, prepare area where bins are to be placed. Put in rubbish bins.
What to wear/bring: Suitable clothing, hammer/nails, spade/brooms.

Bottlebank Promotion
Where? Nettleham
When? Saturday 12th April 2003
What's it about? To ask all residents of Nettleham to place their glass to be recycled on the boundary of their property to be collected by members of Nettleham guide and scouting organisations. To encourage awareness and increased use of bottle bank in Co-op car park.
Where's it happening? Co-op car park and streets of village, Vicarage Lane, Nettleham What will volunteers do? Be allocated a street to collect recycled glass from.
What to wear/bring: Gloves, clothes suitable for being outdoors, means of transporting glass.
What will be provided: Gloves, brush, allocated street map, 1st aid kit.

Environmental Taster Day

What's it about? To enable new volunteers the opportunity to try their hand at a range of conservation tasks such as tree planting, hedge laying and Lincolnshire post and rail fencing.
Where's it happening? Soff Lane, South End, Coxhill What will volunteers do? Volunteers will be able to have a go at a variety of nature conservation tasks such as hedgelaying and tree planting.

Provision of Stimulating Outside Areas for Foundation Stage of Learning

What's it about? We are transforming our Nursery area in school to provide an aesthetic but exciting learning space for the youngest pupils to explore and work/play in. Part of this involves the creation of raised planting beds which will offer scents and colours for the children to enjoy and wonder about. The children will also care for the areas with their teachers, but we also hope that such plants will attract butterflies and other insects and mini-beasts.
