What's it about? To clean up and then maintain on a regular basis the pond area in our village. Provision of bird boxes, plants/flowers etc. will enhance its appearance.
Where's it happening? Coed Hirwaun village, Margam What will volunteers do? Assist in cleaning the area, removing dead vegetation, rubbish, debris, and clearing overgrown areas of vegetation.
What to wear/bring: Wellington boots, suitable clothing, gardening gloves, spades, forks, saws. Adequate refreshments.
What will be provided: Assistance and support, plants and materials.

Ailgylchu Coed Naddig/Recycling Christmas Trees
Where? Fishguard
When? 11th January 2003
What's it about? To recycle Christmas trees in the Fishguard town. We have a group of young people who will collect the Christmas trees from the people's homes. We will then recycle the trees by turning them into bark and will distribute the bark to local gardening clubs.
Where's it happening? Fishguard What will volunteers do? Collect trees around town

Clydach Valley Footpath Project
Where? Neath Abbey
When? Sunday 12th January 2003 (and Sunday throughout the year)
What's it about? To upgrade the Clydach Valley and surrounding area by providing drainage on a stretch of footpath leading from Longford Road to the White Bridge over the River Clydach.
Where's it happening? Longford Road, Longford, Neath Abbey What will volunteers do? This work to create a footpath involves the clearing of undergrowth, cutting the line of the path, new drainage with trenches and culverts and French drains. Placing steps to make passage easier. The surface will then be covered with scalping to create a dry walk.
What to wear/bring: Good pair of boots and old clothes.
What will be provided: Refreshments, gloves.

Creating New Heathland
Where? Port Talbot

What's it about? Remove self-seeded conifers from heather area to encourage heathland species.
Where's it happening? Mynydd Dinas, Port Talbot What will volunteers do? Cut down conifers and cut up to create habitat piles on the heathland.
What to wear/bring: Weatherproof clothing, sturdy boots/wellingtons, gloves, food and drink.
What will be provided: Tools, first aid, warm drinks, advice and training.

Any restrictions? Long climb to site plus very physical work.

Broadleaf Tree Planting

What's it about? We aim to restore the environment of the Dinas mountain back to broadleaf woodland and open heathland.
Where's it happening? Minydd Dinas, Port Talbot What will volunteers do? Carry young trees onto site, plant trees.
What to wear/bring: Sturdy boots, wellingtons, weatherproof clothing, gloves, food and drink.
What will be provided: Tools, trees, first aid, warm drinks, advice and training.

Any restrictions? Long steep climb to site - fitness not age matters. Dogs must be controlled.

What's it about? We are cycling to the wetlands and will observe and record birds that have migrated here for the winter, led by a member of Gower Ornithology Society.
Where's it happening? Penclawydd Wetlands and Wildlife Centre, Pontardulais, Swansea What will volunteers do? Observe and record the migrating birds.
What to wear/bring: Bikes, warm clothes, notepad and pencil, binoculars if possible.

St. Peter's Churchyard - Reclamation & Maintenance Project
Where? Swansea
When? Saturday 6th April 2003
What's it about? To clear an area of St. Peter's 6.5 acre churchyard that has become heavily overgrown with brambles in order to make the graves in that part of the churchyard more accessible to bereaved relatives.
Where's it happening? St Peter's Church, Cockett Road, Swansea What will volunteers do? Maintain all areas of the churchyard and reclaim those parts that are overgrown. Tasks include grass cutting, strimming, weeding, clearing areas overgrown with brambles, hedge thinning and cutting, shredding and filling in holes and indentations in undulating grounds with recycled materials e.g. grass cuttings, shredded tree branches.
What to wear/bring: Bring your own lunch.
What will be provided: We provide all tools and machinery. Tea & coffee. Protective goggles, visors and ear defenders are also provided.

Any restrictions? No. However, volunteers are only allocated task in accordance with their perceived physical capabilities.
