Where's it happening? Three Sisters Recreation Area, Three Sisters Rd, Bryn, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan What will volunteers do? Help prepare woodland ground: raking, turning the soil over, clearing weeds. Mix seeds with a 'carrier material', sow seeds around the woodland and plant young wildflowers.
What to wear/bring: Warm, waterproof outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear. Bring your own gardening gloves or tools if you wish.

Create storage cupboards to increase the quantity of reclaimed timber and green wood (stakes and unseasoned hardwood logs resulting from other conservation activities) that the wildside activity centre can store for use in future craft and construction projects. The cupboards will be formed by fitting lockable shutters to spaces beneath an existing all-abilities access ramp.

Friends of Verulamium Park: Flowers for a Roman Wall Where? St Albans, Herefordshire When? Saturday 26th April 2003 What's it about? Plant autumn flowering cyclamen and foxgloves along the railed boundary of the remains of a Roman wall (2nd century AD) which protected the Roman city of Verulamium which underlays the park. A public footpath runs alongside.
Where's it happening? Verulamium Park, King Harry Lane, St Albans What will volunteers do? Clear moss, leaves, weeds etc. from wall. Plant new plants.

Operation Compost Heap Where? Stroud, Gloucestershire When? 26th April 2003 What's it about? To clear an area of waste ground in a corner of the school field and erect 2 compost bins and a wormery. Compost bins will be used to recycle waste from packed lunches. Compost produced will be returned to ground, used for raising plants by the pupils or sold to parents at school fetes.

We would like to either sow a mixture of shady glade/hedgerow species or plant ready grown plants for a more instant effect. The local residents who have responsibility for maintaining the site have already cleared the verges of rubbish but would like our support with revitalising the habitat.
