A group of children from Potterton Primary School will visit the reserve, help restore a small area of wetland and clear paths. They will then make posters to encourage responsible dog walking on the reserve (a haven for birds).
Where's it happening? Carr Vale Flash, Bolsover What will volunteers do? Volunteers will supervise the children during the practical work (removing scrub to enhance wetlands). They will also accompany the children on a fact-finding walk to discover what are the issues around having dogs on a nature reserve.

To arrange a large woodchipper which will provide a free Xmas tree shredding service for the local area. The chippings will then be available to allotment holders to use as mulch. It also provides on hand education and advice about recycling.

To upgrade the Clydach Valley and surrounding area by providing drainage on a stretch of footpath leading from Longford Road to the White Bridge over the River Clydach.

This work to create a footpath involves the clearing of undergrowth, cutting the line of the path, new drainage with trenches and culverts and French drains. Placing steps to make passage easier. The surface will then be covered with scalping to create a dry walk.

Christmas Tree Recycling Project Where? Whiteley, Hampshire When? Sunday 5th and Sunday 12th January 2003 What's it about? To collect all natural Xmas trees from 9 collection points within Whiteley (from residents houses), shred them using the mulch on tree and shrub beds within the Whiteley recreation and park area.
Where's it happening? Various collection points, Whiteley What will volunteers do? Help collect natural Xmas trees and stack them at an agreed location in readiness for shredding on Monday 13th January
What to wear/bring: Just turn up with a smile on their face
What will be provided: Refreshments, protective clothing (gloves, high visibility jackets etc.)
